Curriculum & Course Of Studies

Boys are prepared for examinations conducted by the Council for the
Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. The Council is
recognized by both houses of Parliament and has the assent of the
President Of India.
-
The syllabus of the Junior School and Middle School is based on the
recommendation of the Inter State Board for Anglo-Indian Education and
Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.
-
The course of studies includes Moral Instruction, Reading, Writing,
Mathematics (Integrated), Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General
Science, History, Geography, Craft, Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit, English
Language and Literature, Physical Training, Commerce and SUPW.
Computers is being introduced from classes K. G. to X w. e. f. June
2000.

Great stress is placed on co-curricular activities and character
building programmes.

The medium of instruction throughout is English with Hindi being the
2nd language.

Language Pattern In School

| Exemption from the compulsory study of the regional
language Marathi (Hindi being compulsory).
Note : A three-language pattern is imposed by Government
throughout India and hence, if exempted from Marathi, your son will have
to study Sanskrit upto the end of Std. VIII.
A copy of the resolution of the Government of Maharashtra follows. If
your son is eligible for exemption please apply for the same, through the
Principal.

Note : In your own interest you are advised to make your case as strong
as possible, quoting the section or sections under which you claim the
exemption; being casual and brief will not help your case.
Your son/sons will be required to study Marathi until the exemption
letter is received from the Inspector.

Resolution :
-
Government is pleased to direct that the following categories of
pupils should be exempted from compulsory study of the Regional
Language (Marathi).
(i) Children of Government of India Servants provided they are not
permanent residents of the State and provided they study Hindi.
(ii) Children whose parents are only temporarily in the state,
provided they study Hindi.
(iii) Children joining school in a class higher than class VI, the
School Certificate or Leaving Examination being taken in class XI and
coming from a school where the regional language is not taught.
(iv) Any other pupil whose parents are not residents in the state and
in whose case the State Education Department has sanctioned exemption.

Exemption under para (i) & (ii) above should be granted by the
school in which the pupil is studying, subject to the production of a
Certificate from the Educational Inspector of the District concerned,
that the pupil satisfies the requisite conditions laid down therein.

Home Work
|
|
|
-
Home work is set each day, according to subjects appearing in the
daily time table. Std. III & IV have three home work subjects a
day, and all other classes four home work subjects. Each boy must have
a School Diary for copying in his home work and for following the day
to day programme of the school. (Classes 3 & 4 - 1 hour, Classes
5, 6 & 7 - 1 1/2 hrs. and Classes 8, 9 & 10 - 2 hrs.)

Day Scholars - Parents are requested to make time for a boy to cover
his home work, to see that it is done and to sign the calendar every
year.

Progress Marks & Promotion
|
| |

Promotions to new classes will be made in April.
-
Tests are given and marks are prepared periodically. There are 4
sets of tests in August, December and April.

Report Cards are not presented till the bill is paid in full.

Promotions are indicated in the full report submitted to parents in
April, and boys are promoted to their new classes in April each year.
-
Boys absenting themselves frequently during the year or missing the
Final Examination are liable to lose their promotion.
-
Boys who are over age for their class and fail to get promotion will
be asked to leave the school.
-
Boys who fail consecutively twice in the same class will have to
leave the school. They will not be taken back under any circumstances.

College & Career Requirements
|
|
|
|
To obtain admission into a good Junior College, your boy
must be encouraged to work for more than 70% in those subjects which he
will have to take, to fulfill your plans for him and his ambitions.

Internal Examination
|
|
|
|
The assessment in "Socially Useful Productive Work and
Community Service" will be made by the school and the result will
count towards the award of the certificate. The school will be required to
follow the instructions sent by the Council in the matter of keeping
records of the work and the assessment of each candidate in "Socially
Useful Productive Work and Community Service".

|
Second Language
|

Candidates of Indian nationality must offer one of the languages
listed below :
Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam,
Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu or any other
language of an Indian community approved by the council.

Candidates of other nationalities must offer either one of the
languages listed above, or one of the following for which provision is
made by the school :
French, German, Spanish, or any other foreign language approved by the
Council.

Note : It is expected that candidate will
normally offer both Science and Mathematics from Group II. If they choose
to take any other combination of subjects, Heads of Schools must apprise
them of the implications. For the I. S. C. XII course, all combinations of
subjects will be accepted.

Choice Of Subjects
|
|
|

All candidates for the examination must enter and sit for six
subjects namely - English, a Second Language, Civics, History and
Geography and three of the subjects listed above under Group II &
Group III and must have been examined by the school in
practicals/project work in English, the Second Language, Civics,
History and Geography, the three subjects of their choice and in
Socially Useful Productive Work an Community Service.
Provided that candidates reappearing for the examination without
attendance at School, in accordance with the provision given in
Chapter 1, B, 3 (ICSE Syllabus) will have to enter and sit for all the
written papers of all the six subjects.

A School may not enter candidates for subjects, for the teaching of
which no provision is made by the school.
Note : The responsibility for the correct selection of subjects to meet
university or professional requirements of a candidate or candidates will
be that of the school. |

Awards & Condition For Awards
|
|
|

Pass Certificates will be awarded to candidates who attain the pass
standard in at least five subjects which must include the subject
English and a minimum of 25% marks in the 6th subject.
Provided that no candidate, except as otherwise exempted by the
Council, shall be awarded a Pass Certificate unless in addition to
fulfilling the conditions above he has attained a pass grade in SUPW
and Community Service as examined/assessed internally by the school.

Supplementary Pass Certificates will be awarded to candidates who
have obtained Pass Certificates and who appear in a subsequent
examination and reach the pass standard in one or more subjects.
-
Statement Of Marks will be issued to all candidates who appeared for
the examination. The pass mark for each subject is 35%.

Issue Of Results
|
|
|
|
All results will be issued through the Heads of
Schools to whom results will be sent as soon as possible after the award
has been completed. The result sheets show the result in the examination
as a whole and also indicate the standard reached in each subject taken,
except Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service, by grades
from 1 to 9, 1 being the highest and 9 the lowest. Very Good is indicated
by grades 1 & 2. Grades 3, 4 & 5 indicate a pass with credit, 6
& 7 indicate a pass and 8 or 9 a failure.
